SPARKBOOTH CANON 5D3 MANUAL
I looked in the 5D3 manual (which I downloaded from the Canon web site) but could find nothing that sounded like an automatic setting based on whatever focal length the camera was currently set to. I never saw that on the 5D3, but I only had it for about 2 weeks and could easily have missed it. That is, the change was done automatically whenever the user changed a lens. In reading some of the Nikon posts it appears that the D800 has a setting for 1/FL for whatever focal length is currently being used on the camera and another setting for the FL multiplier which, I understand, allows someone to set a multiplier of 2 (giving 1/2*FL) or 3 (giving 1/3*FL) and so on.

That certainly worked (and I loved the images I got from the 5D3), but it required that I manually set that value every time I changed lenses.

When I was shooting in TV mode I used to set the minimum shutter speed as 1/2* max FL for whatever lens I was using. That is, when I had the 5D3, I could set both the actual shutter speed (in TV mode) and the minimum shutter speed (although that was to a specific value, for example, 1/100 sec). If the Canon can be picked up for a deal (and sometimes packaged with a couple of 600's it is) I'd say that's the way to go.I am not sure of this, but I believe that the only minimum shutter settings available on the 5D3 are time related. I've been using it with 2 600EX-RT's and its performance has been flawless. Makes me wonder if some of the complaints were from people who didn't have Canon to compare to?Īnyway - the YN-E3-RT is starting to grow on me. Free shipping Free shipping Free shipping. SPARKBOOTH CANON 5D3 UPDATE
I have a Sigma ring flash I had to send back to Sigma for a FW update when my 50D came out.

I kinda like having Canon dedicated gear. I have gotten out of third party gear mostly due to lenses. For one reason or another, I'm not interested in any of Canon's current 50mm offerings, so am seriously considering the Sigma 50mm Art, but I've read a few horror stories regarding its AF consistency. If I have waited longer I'm not sure which path I would have taken. I don't miss AF assist and can't remember if I have ever used 2nd curtain sync off camera and not sure I will.
